PBL Students of UIN Jakarta Hold "TBC Festa" Program in Parigi Lama Subdistrict

FIKES Online News.- The Field Learning Experience (PBL) activity of the Public Health Study Program of the Syarif Hidayatullah State Islamic University (UIN) Jakarta, which was carried out by Group 11 in Parigi Lama Village, Pondok Aren District, South Tangerang City, presented an intervention program called "TBC FESTA (TB Education and Action Festival)" as an effort to increase public knowledge regarding tuberculosis prevention behavior and the introduction of the TB-Free RW Program.

This activity, held on Tuesday, February 3, 2026, aimed to increase community knowledge and gain support from community leaders regarding the TB-Free Neighborhood Program, which has not yet been implemented. Based on the results of the Epidemiological Rapid Survey (SCE), RW 06, Parigi Lama Village, was selected as the intervention area due to its continued lack of knowledge and poor TB prevention behaviors.

The "TBC FESTA" program consists of three series of activities. First, "TBC FESTA-Educore," an educational and outreach program related to preventing risky behaviors related to TB. Second, "TBC FESTA-Community Forum," a series of discussions with community leaders in RW 06 to gain support for the TB-free RW program. Finally, "TBC FESTA-Media Action," an activity related to the distribution of educational media in the form of educational books, posters, and flipcharts to several target groups.

"TBC FESTA-Educore" provides community education about TB, its transmission, and preventive behaviors. Before the activity began, the community was given a pre-test to assess participants' knowledge of TB and its preventive behaviors. Afterward, the community received education about TB, followed by an engaging question-and-answer session. A post-test was then conducted to assess the community's knowledge after the education. The event concluded with the distribution of souvenirs.

The TB FESTA-Community Forum involved a Focus Group Discussion (FGD) involving various stakeholders, including community leaders from RW 06, RW 06 health cadres, TB cadres, the Parigi Community Health Center, and the Parigi Lama Village. The discussion addressed the TB-free RW implementation plan and garnered support from the FGD participants. The FGD resulted in all participants expressing their full support for the TB-free RW program in RW 06.

The Parigi sub-district office, represented by the sub-district secretary, Tantan Rustandi S.Sos., stated that the TB-free neighborhood unit (RW) program is crucial.

"The TB-free neighborhood unit (RW) program must be implemented because a healthy environment reflects a healthy community, and a healthy community reflects healthy behaviors."

The head of RW 06, Parigi Lama, Mr. Saidun, expressed his hope that the TB-free neighborhood unit (RW) program would be accelerated in RW 06.

"We need to expedite the TB-free neighborhood unit (RW) program to protect and maintain community health from infectious diseases, especially TB, as several people in our area have contracted TB. Let's start the program immediately after Eid," said Saidun, head of RW 06.

The TB FESTA-Media Action program was implemented by distributing TB educational media to the community, community leaders, and health workers in RW 06, as well as TB cadres, as an effort to increase the reach of TB information within the community. The educational media distributed included educational pocketbooks, posters, and flipcharts, which served as a means of continuously disseminating information to the community.

The TBC FESTA activity successfully became the starting point for establishing a TB-free neighborhood (RW) in RW 06. This increased community knowledge about TB and the full support of the community and community leaders who participated in the focus group discussions (FGDs) ensured that this program could be followed up to achieve a TB-free neighborhood (RW) in the future.
